A restaurant owner was shot dead and his wife seriously injured in a shooting outside their restaurant in Nagoda, Kalutara, on Friday morning (Oct. 9).
According to police, two unidentified gunmen arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire on the couple and fled the scene.
The restaurant owner died following the shooting, while his wife, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to the Nagoda Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that a T-56 assault rifle was used in the attack.
The Kalutara Crimes Division, Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit, crime scene investigators and Kalutara South Police are conducting further investigations into the shooting.
