Driver arrested over alleged deliberate collision with Metro bus

A 44-year-old bus driver has been arrested by Piliyandala Police over an alleged deliberate collision involving a Metro bus in the Miriswatta area on the Kesbewa-Colombo road.

Police said the suspect was driving a luxury Horana-Colombo bus operating on route No. 120 when it allegedly struck the front-right corner of a Metro bus travelling from Kahathuduwa to Colombo.

The collision damaged the Metro bus’s right-side mirror and a window below it, causing an estimated loss of Rs. 342,000. CCTV footage reportedly captured the incident.

The suspect, a resident of Pokunuwita, Horana, was due to be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court on Oct. 10 under the Public Property Act.

Piliyandala Police are conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
