Sri Lankan schoolteacher, television presenter and actress Nimesha Premachandra, who won the Mrs. Tourism World 2026 title in the Philippines, is expected to use her international recognition to help promote Sri Lanka as a global tourism destination.
Nimesha met Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath and Deputy Minister of Tourism Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe at the ministry on Oct. 9 to discuss opportunities to promote Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
The discussion focused on using her international platform to showcase Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage, natural beauty and tourist attractions to audiences worldwide.
Nimesha was crowned Mrs. Tourism World 2026 in Manila on Oct. 2, competing against representatives from approximately 20 countries.
In addition to the main title, she secured four special awards: Ambassador for Education, Best in Runway, Best in Talent – Silver and the Woman of Influence Award.
Her advocacy initiative, “Connecting Cultures. Nurturing Future Citizens,” focuses on cultural exchange, education, women’s empowerment and the welfare of underprivileged children.
According to the ministry, the meeting explored how her international achievements could contribute to strengthening Sri Lanka’s tourism promotion and increasing the country’s visibility among international audiences. (Newswire)
