The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the publication of a bill to establish a National Agency for Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and create a legal framework to promote and facilitate such projects in Sri Lanka.
The proposal to introduce the legislation was initially approved by the Cabinet on June 2, 2025. The bill has since been drafted by the Legal Draftsman and cleared by the Attorney General.
The Cabinet has now approved a proposal submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, to publish the bill in the Government Gazette before presenting it to Parliament for approval.
According to the Department of Government Information, the proposed legislation aims to establish the institutional and legal framework needed to encourage public-private partnerships in Sri Lanka. (Newswire)
