The Sri Lanka Army has evacuated 163 people belonging to 70 families affected by rising floodwaters in the Koorai area of Mannar District.
According to the Sri Lanka Army, troops launched relief operations in the Koorai Grama Niladhari Division of the Manthai West Divisional Secretariat Division to ensure the safety of residents affected by flooding.
The affected residents were evacuated to a temporary safety centre established at the Iluppukadavai Government School.
The Army said cooked meals were also provided to those accommodated at the temporary shelter on Monday (26). (Newswire)
