The Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau arrested a 38-year-old resident of Alfred House Place, Colombo 03, today (October 28) for allegedly defrauding a person of Rs. 5,900,000.
The arrest followed a complaint alleging that the suspect took the funds promising to deliver a SUV but failed to produce the vehicle.
The suspect was taken into custody by investigating officers after being summoned to the bureau to record a statement.
Following his arrest, he was produced before the Aluthkade No. 03 Magistrate’s Court today and released on two personal bails of Rs. 2.5 million each.
