An inmate at Pallekele Prison has died after being shot by a prison guard while allegedly attempting to escape from the facility.
According to the Prisons Spokesman, the inmate was shot by a guard stationed at a sentry post during the reported escape attempt.
The inmate subsequently died from the gunshot injuries.
