The Colombo High Court has ordered the release of Daisy Forrest, the grand-aunt of Yoshitha Rajapaksa, from the money laundering case filed against them under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The court issued the order today (03) after considering submissions indicating that Forrest was not in a suitable mental condition to face trial.

Meanwhile, Yoshitha Rajapaksa pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act when they were read out in open court today.

The case relates to three indictments filed by the Attorney General, alleging that between March 31, 2009 and December 12, 2013, Rajapaksa committed an offence under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act by depositing in three private banks a sum exceeding Rs. 59 million, the source of which could not be explained.
