A delegation from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is expected to visit Sri Lanka soon to share its experiences in party organisation and discipline with members of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP).
The proposed visit was discussed during a meeting between JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva and Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Wei Huaxiang at the JVP headquarters in Pelawatte on Thursday (5).
According to Silva, the meeting focused on decisions taken at the fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, held in China on October 29.
The Chinese Ambassador briefed Silva on the party’s approach to maintaining strict internal discipline and strengthening its organisational structure.
Silva said a CCP delegation is expected to visit Sri Lanka to provide further explanations of these policies and share the Chinese party’s experiences with JVP members.
The two sides also discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and China, including expanding cooperation in investment, technology, transport, education, healthcare and culture.
Ambassador Wei reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka across these sectors, according to Silva.
Silva expressed appreciation for China’s assistance to Sri Lanka’s economic and technological development and highlighted the longstanding relationship between the JVP and the Chinese Communist Party.
Several Chinese Embassy officials, including Counsellor Mei Jing, Head of the Political Section Qin Ligong, Second Secretary Jin Enze and official Li Jiani, attended the meeting. (Newswire)
