Indian film star Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Jailer 2 will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video on 12 November, the platform has confirmed.
The Tamil-language action film has earned more than ₹820 crore (Indian Rs. 8.2 billion) worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time, according to box-office estimates.
The announcement comes while the film is still showing in cinemas, following its successful theatrical release.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel sees Rajinikanth return as Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer drawn back into danger when a powerful criminal organisation threatens his family.
The film also features appearances by Indian cinema stars Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi.
Prime Video said the film would be available in more than 240 countries and territories, including Sri Lanka, in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.
The streaming release will allow audiences to watch both Jailer and its sequel on the same platform. (Newswire)
