A 40-year-old woman wanted on 12 arrest warrants has been arrested in Ragama for allegedly defrauding individuals by promising to send them overseas.
According to the Police Media Division, the suspect was arrested during a raid conducted by Ragama Police in the Ginkenda area on Wednesday (04) night, following a tip-off.
Police said the suspect, a resident of Ragama, had allegedly obtained money from individuals by promising opportunities to travel abroad.
Investigations revealed that the woman had been evading court proceedings, with the Welisara Magistrate’s Court issuing 12 warrants against her.
The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Welisara Magistrate’s Court today (05).
