Construction of a 26-kilometre, 220kV double-circuit power transmission line connecting Mannar and Mullikulam is scheduled to commence today (08), under the patronage of Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka.
The project aims to connect the 100MW Mullikulam wind power plant in Mannar to the national electricity grid. It is also expected to contribute to the stability of the national grid.
The transmission line will run from the Mannar 220/33kV grid substation to the proposed Mullikulam 220kV metering substation.
The project will be funded entirely by the Sri Lankan Government, with an estimated investment of Rs. 2.5 billion. (Newswire)
