A 33-year-old tourist guide has died after being attacked by a female elephant kept at the Kande Viharaya temple in Aluthgama.
According to the Police, the incident occurred last morning (26), when the elephant attacked the individual within the temple premises
The victim, a resident of Ahungalla, sustained injuries in the attack and was admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital, where he subsequently died.
Police said two mahouts have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The Aluthgama Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal elephant attack. (Newswire)
