Police have revealed further information on the body of a woman discovered inside a motor vehicle near the Teldeniya Hospital, following a tip‑off received on Wednesday evening.
According to the Police, investigations began after an unidentified caller alerted the Teldeniya Police to the presence of the body.
Subsequent inquiries established that the deceased, a 33‑year‑old resident of Weligama, had been staying at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya from June 3 to June 16.
The Police further confirmed that the individual who reported the discovery was believed to be her lover.
Following the magistrate’s examination, the body was placed in the mortuary of the Teldeniya Hospital for post‑mortem analysis.
The Police added that investigations are continuing under the Nuwara Eliya Police to determine whether the death was the result of homicide or occurred under other circumstances. (Newswire)
