
Sri Lanka’s dengue patient count has crossed the 54,000 mark as the outbreak worsens under prevailing rainy weather conditions, the National Dengue Control Unit announced today.
Acting Director Dr. Kapila Kannangara said a total of 54,189 cases have been reported nationwide so far, with daily infections ranging between 950 and 1,000.
Kapila Kannangara further said that in the past 24 hours alone, 1,030 new patients were recorded.
He added that dengue control programmes will be carried out over the next three days, urging public cooperation to curb the spread of the disease. (Newswire)
