Train services on the coastal line were severely disrupted this morning (24) after the Sagarika train, operating from Beliatta to Maradana, derailed near the Wadduwa railway station.
According to the Railway Department, services from Colombo have been restricted to Panadura, while trains from Matara are limited to Kalutara.
The derailment blocked both tracks, bringing long‑distance services along the coastal route to a complete halt.
Recovery operations are underway, though officials have not yet announced when full services will resume. (Newswire/ Image- Accident1st)
