Several spells of showers are expected in Central and Uva provinces and in the districts of Ampara, Batticaloa and Hambantota, the Department of Meteorology said.
Showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the districts of Galle and Matara after 2 p.m.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the districts of Galle and Matara during the early morning hours.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in sea areas off the coast from Galle to Batticaloa via Hambantota and Pottuvil. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in sea areas off the coast from Colombo to Galle via Kalutara in the evening or night.
Winds will be north-easterly at 30–40 km/h. Wind speeds may increase to 45–50 km/h at times in sea areas from Kalutara to Mannar via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
Sea areas from Kalutara to Mannar via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be fairly rough at times. Other sea areas around the island will be moderate. (Newswire)
