
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 pm today (28), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers are likely in some places in the Southern province and in the Ampara district in the morning.
Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, North-central and Southern provinces and in the Mannar district.
Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in the Anuradhapura and Kurunegala districts during in the morning
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Winds will be southerly or variable. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
The sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
