A slight increase in rainfall is expected in the southwestern part of Sri Lanka over the next few days, starting from Today (July 28), according to the Department of Meteorology.
As such, showers will occur at times in the Sabaragamuwa province and in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts today.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Western and North-western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the Central hills, the Northern and North-central provinces and in the Hambantota, Trincomalee and Puttalam districts.
Meanwhile, showers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Negombo to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be south-westerly. Wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Kankasanthurai to Trincomalee via Mullaitivu and from Kalpitiya to Hambantota via Galle will be fairly rough at times.
The wave height may increase about 2.0 – 2.5 meters in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota. (Newswire)
