Electricity Distribution Lanka (Pvt) Ltd has introduced an online facility allowing consumers to check the availability of transformer capacity for rooftop solar installations before submitting an application.
Previously, consumers could only determine whether the transformer nearest to their homes had sufficient capacity to accommodate a rooftop solar system after submitting an application, causing inconvenience to applicants.
Following instructions from the Ministry of Energy, Electricity Distribution Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, a successor company to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), has introduced the online facility to address this issue.
Consumers can now check the remaining capacity of their nearest transformer through the following link:

The service is currently available only for transformers equipped with meters. A project to install meters at the remaining transformers is also underway. (Newswire)
