Several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
A few showers may also occur in the North-western province.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-central, Western and North-western provinces and in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
Meanwhile, showers may occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly, and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
