Sri Lankan family donates Rs. 470 Mn worth of ICU beds

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds with cutting-edge technology worth Rs. 470 million were handed over to Minister of Health Ramesh Pathirana this week (Mar 21). 

The 157 ICU beds were donated by a Sri Lankan family residing in Canada with the intervention of Rev. Fr. Darrel Coonghe, the Director and Founder of Supuwath Arana in Seeduwa.

According to the Health Ministry, the ICU beds, each worth Rs. 3 million, are to be distributed to 34 state hospitals.

The Negombo, Ragama Teaching Hospital, Chilaw, Puttalam, Seeduwa, Gampaha, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Trincomalee and Kurunegala are among the hospitals to receive the ICU beds.

Accepting the donation, Health Minister Ramesh Pathirana expressed his gratitude to Patrick Nilkamal Fernando and his family residing in Canada for the much-needed donation. (NewsWire)
