Veteran lyricist Rathna Sri Wijesinghe has stepped down from his post as Chairman of the National Library and Documentation Services Board.

Wijesinghe, widely respected for his long career in songwriting and contributions to Sri Lankan arts, said he resigned from the position citing personal reasons.

“I have decided to resign due to personal reasons. My confidence in the President and the government remains intact, and I will continue to extend my support to them. My decision is purely personal, particularly related to my age. There is no other reason.”

Clarifying that there were no issues between him and the government, Wijesinghe said that his resignation is effective from August 11. (Newswire)
