The Ministry of Education has announced the schedule for the conclusion of the 2025 academic year and the commencement of the 2026 academic year for state schools.
Accordingly, the ministry has decided to end the 2025 academic year for all Sinhala and Tamil state schools on Monday (22 Dec) and on Tuesday (23 Dec) for all Muslim schools.
As such, school holidays will be from 23 December 2025 to 04 January 2026 for all Sinhala and Tamil schools, and from 27 December 2025 to 04 January 2025 for all Muslim schools.
All schools will reopen for the 2026 academic year with the first term commencing on 05 January 2026. (Newswire)
