US President Donald Trump has claimed in a Truth Social post that an agreement with Iran will be signed on Sunday and will immediately lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping.

Trump said the deal would prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and described it as the opposite of the 2015 nuclear agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

He claimed the agreement would ensure Iran cannot acquire nuclear weapons “through purchase, development, or any other form,” and said no financial payments would be made to Tehran under the arrangement. (NewsWire)
