Sri Lanka has recorded 91,346 dengue cases and 68 deaths so far this year, while the case fatality rate stands at 0.07%.
According to the National Dengue Control Unit, the highest monthly burden was reported in July with 29,968 cases, followed by June (21,533) and August (6,004).
District‑wise, Gampaha leads with 19,467 cases (21.3%), closely followed by Colombo at 18,133 (19.8%). Other high‑incidence districts include Kalutara (6,626), Kandy (5,021), and Galle (3,678).
By province, the Western Province accounts for more than half of the total caseload with 48,338 cases (53%). The Southern Province reported 11,679 cases, while the Central Province recorded 8,546.
Health authorities note that 119 MOH areas were classified as high‑risk in Week 31, with an average of 1,509 new cases reported daily.
Authorities continue to urge the public to take preventive measures, including eliminating mosquito breeding sites and seeking early medical attention for suspected symptoms. (Newswire)
