Several spells of showers will occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (10), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces and in the Mullaittivu district after 2.00 pm.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be South-westerly. Wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
