The Ministry of Education has authorised Provincial Education Secretaries and Provincial Directors of Education to decide on the temporary closure of schools in areas affected by adverse weather conditions.
According to the Ministry, the decision has been taken in view of the prevailing heavy rainfall across the country, which could disrupt school activities in certain areas.
Accordingly, provincial education authorities have been granted full powers to determine whether schools in their respective areas should remain open or be temporarily closed.
The Ministry stated that such decisions should be made after considering the prevailing disaster situation, flood risks and road obstructions in the relevant areas.
The measure is intended to allow provincial authorities to make appropriate decisions based on local weather conditions and the ability to conduct school activities safely. (Newswire)
