
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the Uva, Central and Eastern provinces and in the Polonnaruwa and Mullaittivu districts after 2.00 pm today (07).
According to the Department of Meteorology, fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Uva and Eastern provinces.
A few showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle. Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mullaittivu to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and Batticaloa during the evening or night.
Winds will be South-westerly. Wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Kankasanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Kankasanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar will be fairly rough at times.
