A suspect has been arrested in Thirappane after wildlife officers discovered a cache of illegal firearms hidden in a temporary hut on farmland.
According to the Department of Wildlife Conservation, acting on information received, officers from the Anuradhapura Thirappane Wildlife Office searched the suspect’s property in Orukmankulama, Uttamaduwa.
During the search operation, they found eight locally manufactured guns, including a shotgun and seven rifles, concealed near the hut.
The suspect was taken into custody along with the seized weapons and is to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court. (Newswire)
