Parliament to debate 22nd Amendment and Judicature Bill on Sept. 24–25

The 22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill and the Judicature (Amendment) Bill will be taken up for debate in Parliament during their second reading on September 24 and 25.

According to the Department of Communication of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, the decision was taken by the Committee on Parliamentary Business today (10). 

The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution is a proposed piece of legislation focused primarily on judicial reforms and adjusting the retirement ages of superior court judges. 

The Judicature (Amendment) Bill is a proposed law designed to expand the High Court bench and adjust judicial retirement ages to help clear court backlogs. (Newswire)
