A total of 68 suspects wanted under Interpol Red Notices have been brought back to Sri Lanka, while a further 112 have been identified in 13 countries, Police Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Wootler said.

The suspects are linked to drug-related offences and organised crime, he said.

Wootler made these remarks during a media briefing held to outline progress under the Government’s ‘A Nation United’ national mission, which was launched a year ago.

He said 5,743 individuals with direct links to criminal activities had been arrested in 2026.

Meanwhile, approximately 450 investigations into suspected illicit wealth are being conducted in connection with the suspects, he added.

Wootler also presented figures on the value of properties and assets seized by the Government over links to drug-related activities.

According to the figures, the value of seized assets was Rs. 1,490 million in 2024, Rs. 1,549 million in 2025 and Rs. 1,656 million in 2026. (Newswire)
