A British national who arrived in Sri Lanka from Bangkok, Thailand, was arrested yesterday (12) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with a large quantity of illegal narcotics.
Sri Lanka Customs officials said the 46kg stock of the drug known as “Kush” was discovered concealed inside her luggage during a special raid by the Narcotics Control Unit of the Customs.
The suspect, a young woman, was intercepted while attempting to leave the customs area after her arrival. The seized consignment is estimated to have a street value of approximately Rs. 460 million.
Officials confirmed that the suspect and the drugs have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigation. (Newswire)
