July 31 deadline for public servants to update Agrahara insurance records

Public servants have until July 31 to update their details in the Agrahara insurance database, with beneficiaries urged to complete the process before the deadline.

National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF) Chairperson Vishaka Wanasinghe called on all beneficiaries to update their information without delay, noting that future Agrahara benefits are expected to be provided only through the updated database.

Around 900,000 public and provincial public sector employees eligible for pensions are direct beneficiaries of the Agrahara insurance scheme, while nearly three million people, including their family members, benefit under the programme.

The database update commenced in April 2026, and approximately 600,000 public servants have already completed the process.

Wanasinghe said Agrahara members are employed across about 1,900 state institutions, and those institutions have been requested to appoint Agrahara coordinating officers. She added that the response has been positive so far.

She also urged institutions that have yet to nominate coordinators to do so, stressing that the accuracy of information entered into the system must be verified by both the institution’s Agrahara coordinating officer and its head.

Wanasinghe said the verification process would help ensure the successful implementation of the updated database. (Newswire)
