Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Sudarshana Denipitya raising a privilege issue in Parliament said that the names of MPs who allegedly possess dual citizenship must be revealed.
The MP made these remarks referring to media reports stating that another 10 MPs reportedly hold dual citizenship and thereby are unqualified to hold a parliamentary seat.
“By not naming such individuals, the privileges of all MPs are violated. We have been receiving numerous calls asking if we are dual citizens. Media must be requested to act responsibly, and name these individuals if they are carrying reports like this. There are some MPs who have not even visited a foreign country, let alone hold dual citizenship,” he said. (Newswire)
