Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been killed in western Libya, Libyan officials and family sources said on Tuesday.
The 53-year-old was reportedly shot by unknown assailants at his residence in Zintan, with early reports saying a group of four gunmen stormed his home before fleeing the scene.
Gaddafi, once seen as a potential successor to his late father’s rule, had remained a controversial political figure since the 2011 uprising that toppled the Gaddafi regime.
Libyan authorities have launched an investigation into the killing, and details about the motive or suspects remain unclear. (Newswire)
