
Showers are expected in some parts of Sri Lanka today, while mainly dry weather will prevail elsewhere over the island, according to the Department of Meteorology.
A few showers are likely in the Northern and Eastern provinces. Showers may occur at a few places in the Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva provinces and in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts in the evening or night.
Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts in the morning.
Meanwhile, a few showers are likely in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Kankasanthurai, Trincomalee and Batticaloa. Mainly fair weather will prevail over other sea areas around the island.
Winds will be easterly to northeasterly. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil.
