Sri Lanka Cricket’s newly appointed coaches Ryan van Niekerk and Jordan Gregory were brought in following recommendations by new Head Coach Gary Kirsten.

Both van Niekerk and Gregory are South Africans, like Kirsten, and have previously worked under his private coaching setup, Gary Kirsten Cricket.

Ryan van Niekerk currently serves as Coaching Director at Gary Kirsten Cricket and previously worked as assistant coach and bowling coach of the Netherlands national team, later serving as interim head coach.

Jordan Gregory has also worked within Gary Kirsten’s coaching structure, serving as Head Coach at Gary Kirsten Cricket, while also working as a fielding consultant with Netherlands Cricket.

Sri Lanka Cricket earlier announced that van Niekerk will serve as National Bowling Coach, overseeing fast bowling across all national teams, while Gregory has been appointed National Fielding and Spin Bowling Coach at the National High Performance Centre.

Both coaches are due to begin their two-year tenures from April 15, 2026, as part of Sri Lanka Cricket’s restructuring of its High Performance programme under Gary Kirsten. (Newswire)
