Private candidates who have not yet obtained a National Identity Card (NIC) can still apply for the 2026 G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination by using the NIC of their parent or guardian, the Department of Examinations said.

In a media release issued on Wednesday (15), the department said online applications for the examination are being accepted from July 3 to July 23, as previously announced.

School applicants who have not yet received an NIC should follow the instructions provided to their respective school principals when submitting applications.

Private candidates who do not possess an NIC may register and submit their applications using the National Identity Card of their parent or guardian, it added.

The department stressed that not having obtained an NIC should not prevent eligible candidates from applying before the July 23 deadline. It also emphasized that the application deadline will not be extended under any circumstances.

Candidates requiring further information may contact the department through its hotline (1911) or the designated telephone numbers: 0112-784537, 0112-786616, 0112-784208. (Newswire)
