Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Ajith P. Perera announced in Parliament today (06) that the Opposition will submit a no-confidence motion against Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne on Friday (09).
Perera made the announcement while addressing Parliament, confirming the Opposition’s intention to formally hand over the motion against the Speaker later this week.
Responding to the announcement, Leader of the House, Minister Bimal Rathnayake said the Government was prepared to take up the no-confidence motion for debate without delay.
He proposed that once the motion is formally submitted on Friday, it should be taken up for debate during the first parliamentary week that follows. (Newswire)
