A 65‑year‑old resident of Wellawatte was reported dead after being assaulted with a pole during a dispute on Monday night.
Police said the victim was admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital following the attack but succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Investigations revealed that the incident stemmed from a prolonged argument with a friend living in the same house on Fredrica Road, which escalated into violence.
The suspect, aged 56, allegedly struck the victim with a pole, leading to the fatal injuries.
