Imperial College of Business Studies (ICBS) is set to begin its latest CIMA Certificate Level intake on 19 September 2026, offering students in Colombo and Kandy a 50 per cent reduction in class fees as they take their first step towards a professional qualification in business and finance.
The new intake will offer both weekday and weekend study options, with discounted class fees of Rs. 28,000 for the weekday batch and Rs. 38,000 for the weekend batch.
For school leavers deciding what comes next after their examinations, as well as students looking to begin a recognised professional pathway alongside their academic studies, the intake provides a flexible route into accounting, finance and business.
Officially known as the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, the qualification is open to students regardless of their previous educational background or experience. According to AICPA & CIMA, it covers four core areas — Business Economics, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law — through four objective tests. It is also a formal entry route into the CGMA Professional Qualification.

Imperial, whose history dates back to 1985, has been a CIMA Learning Partner since 2004 and currently delivers CIMA programmes through its Colombo and Kandy campuses.
The Colombo teaching panel for the intake includes Chanusha Jayawardane in Business Economics, Ovin Bimsara in Management Accounting, Shafee Ibrahim in Financial Accounting and Alosha Herath in Business Law.
In Kandy, students will be taught by Thinishi Kahawita in Business Economics, Alvin Fernando and Mohamed Rijaz in Management Accounting, Pooja Jayawardane in Financial Accounting and Thilini David in Business Law.
Alongside classroom teaching, Imperial provides students with digital learning support through its Learning Management System. The college’s official platform allows students to access course materials, assignment information, attendance records and academic progress, while learning tools and exam-practice resources are designed to support preparation outside the classroom.

The CIMA pathway can also form part of a broader academic journey. Imperial offers UK degree pathways in areas including International Business, Marketing Management and Human Resource Management, through university partnerships including Queen Margaret University and the University of the West of Scotland.
For students beginning to think about careers in finance, accounting, management or business, the September intake offers an opportunity to start building both professional knowledge and a pathway towards further academic qualifications.
Imperial’s September 2026 CIMA Certificate intake begins on 19 September, with weekday and weekend options available in both Colombo and Kandy.
For registrations and further information, students and parents can contact the Colombo Campus on 077 391 8777 or the Kandy Campus on 077 354 3555.
