Mumbai Indians have parted ways with former Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga, Paras Mhambrey and Carl Hopkinson as part of changes to their coaching staff ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

The franchise confirmed the departures on Thursday (29), thanking all three coaches for their contributions and wishing them success in their future careers.

Malinga, who served as the team’s bowling coach, returned to the coaching setup in 2024 after previously representing Mumbai Indians as a player.

Mhambrey also served as a bowling coach, while Hopkinson was responsible for fielding.

The latest departures follow the exit of former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene, who stepped down as Mumbai Indians head coach earlier this month after a long association with the franchise.

Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has since been appointed head coach for IPL 2027.

Mumbai Indians, five-time IPL champions, are restructuring their coaching setup following a disappointing 2026 season in which they finished ninth in the 10-team competition.

The franchise has yet to announce replacements for the three departing coaches. (Newswire)
