Sri Lanka’s former cricket administration resigned after acknowledging its failure to rebuild the sport, Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage said on Tuesday (05)

“We experienced it clearly during the last World Cup,” the minister said, referring to Sri Lanka’s performances and broader issues within cricket administration.

“Considering all those matters, they resigned from these positions,” he added, referring to the resignation of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president and committee members.

The minister said the government had subsequently appointed a new Sri Lanka Cricket Transformation Committee headed by former minister Eran Wickramaratne.

He described Wickramaratne as “a capable administrator, a good politician and also a skilled cricketer.”(Newswire)
