
A high-level delegation from the Parliament of Sri Lanka, led by Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne, currently on an official visit to the United Kingdom, has engaged in meetings focused on health and culture.
The Sri Lankan delegation met the Minister for Health Innovation and Safety at the Department of Health and Social Care, Zubir Ahmed.
According to the UK High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Andrew Patrick, who is accompanying the ministerial delegation, a discussion was held between both parties on collaboration in the health sector.
Furthermore, the Sri Lankan delegation visited the UK’s National Theatre for a backstage tour.
British High Commissioner Andrew Patrick said the delegation had the opportunity to meet Director Indhu Rubasingham and award-winning actor Hiran Abeysekara.
The four-day visit of the Sri Lankan ministerial delegation, facilitated by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy and funded by UK International Development, focuses on institutional frameworks and practices that promote transparency, accountability, and effective legislation.
The delegation includes Speaker of Parliament Jagath Wickramaratne, Minister of Health and Mass Media Nalinda Jayatissa, Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara, Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Savithri Paulraj, and Assistant Secretary General of Parliament Hansa Abeyratne.
