A court officer was arrested yesterday for allegedly accepting a bribe related to a land dispute case, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption said.
The suspect, an official the Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court, was taken into custody after allegedly soliciting Rs. 5,000 to issue a certified copy of a case report. The report was needed to file an appeal in a case originally ruled against the complainant.
The arrest occurred inside the court complex around 12:23 p.m. Further investigations are underway. (Newswire)
