A 23-year-old Dominican national studying in Toronto, Canada, was arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) after Sri Lanka Customs officers detected 37.639 kilos of hashish concealed in his luggage.
The suspect had arrived in Sri Lanka from Dubai on Emirates flight EK648 at 11.15 pm on Friday (19).
Customs officers discovered 146 parcels containing hashish concealed inside two suitcases.
The seized narcotics have an estimated street value of Rs. 376.39 million, according to Customs.
Following the detection, both the suspect and the narcotics were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigations. (Newswire)
