An injured tusker calf found separated from its herd in the Thibbatuwewa area of Mahawa received medical treatment with the assistance of Sri Lanka’s security forces.
The Sri Lanka Navy said the calf was found injured and separated from its herd, prompting authorities to provide treatment on August 16.
Personnel from the Navy, Sri Lanka Army, Air Force and Police assisted officials of the Department of Wildlife Conservation in providing the necessary medical support to treat the animal.
The Navy said it continues to work with the Department of Wildlife Conservation and other relevant agencies in efforts to protect wildlife and conserve biodiversity. (Newswire)
