The Department of Meteorology says that due to the influence of the active southwest monsoon weather conditions, the showery weather conditions are likely to increase during the next few days.
As such, showers or thundershowers are expected over the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Galle, Matara, Nuwara-Eliya and Kandy districts.
Heavy falls of about 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts, while a few showers may occur elsewhere.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in Northern and North-central provinces, and in the Hambantota, Puttalam and Trincomalee districts.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Newswire)
