The Ranaviru Seva Authority on Thursday (09) distributed electric wheelchairs to war-disabled veterans under a government-funded initiative.
The programme, held under the patronage of Ranaviru Seva Authority Chairman, Brigadier S. B. Kohona (Retd), is noteworthy as it marks the first time such donations have been carried out entirely through government financial provisions rather than private contributions.
Addressing the event, the chairman said improving the daily lives of fully disabled war veterans remains a key priority, adding that steps will be taken to expand similar welfare initiatives in the future.
The event was attended by Ranaviru Seva Authority staff, senior tri-forces officers, beneficiaries and their family members. (Newswire)
